System Requirements

Device Models

In order to use the RoadRunner-GPS application, devices must have built-in GPS capability. The following device models are known to support GPS.

  • BlackBerry TM 8800 Series
  • BlackBerry Pearl (9100)
  • BlackBerry Pearl Flip (8230)
  • BlackBerry Curve (8310, 8330, 8350i, 8530 and 8900)
  • BlackBerry Bold (9000,9650, 9700)
  • BlackBerry Storm (9500, 9520, 9530, 9550)
  • BlackBerry Tour (9630)
  • BlackBerry Torch (9800)

ATTENTION: Verizon customers: GPS functionality may NOT be available to third party apps on some older devices. This feature has been explicitly disabled by Verizon. Please contact your support center to verify that your GPS functions are available before you proceed.

Operating System

The minimum operating system version that is supported is v4.5.0. To check the version of your operating system, please follow these steps.

  1. From your device, Select the “BlackBerry” button to go to the applications screen
  2. From the applications screen, select the “Option” icon (wrench)
  3. Select “About”, you will see “v4.x.x.x (Platform ....)”

This number must be at least v4.5.0.0 in order for the RoadRunner app to function correctly. If you wish to upgrade your OS to continue with the beta trial, please refer to the instructions on the following website. You will need to select your service provider and follow the instructions.

BlackBerry Maps

RoadRunnerGPS makes entensive use of the BlackBerry Maps package. Please ensure that Blackberry Maps is installed on your device. Usually this is installed by default however some network providers disable this package. You can install it from your PC Desktop Manager software. Note: RoadRunnerGPS will NOT work with Google Maps as an alternative.
